Hopatcong Resident Christopher Candido – Sentenced to 3-Years State Prison

January 3, 2020: Sussex County Prosecutor Francis A. Koch announced the sentencing of Christopher Candido, who appeared before the Honorable Thomas J. Critchley, Jr., J.S.C., at the Sussex County Courthouse in Newton on January 3, 2020.

Candido, age 27 of Hopatcong, was sentenced to three years in New Jersey State Prison.  He was ordered to pay $205.00 in restitution and $2,280.00 in fines and fees.  He was given credit for 203 days of jail time and 36 days of gap time.

He pled guilty on November 19, 2019, to Fraudulent Use of a Credit Card and Possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance, both third degree crimes, Joyriding, a fourth degree crime, and to violating his probation.

The defendant took an individual’s vehicle without permission, used that individual’s bank card to withdraw funds from her bank account on August 31, 2019, and was in possession of 14 folds of heroin at the time of his arrest.

Candido was represented by Thomas Militano, Esq., and the State was represented by Assistant Prosecutor Donald F. Cox, Jr.
