Taste of Talent - Northwestern NJ’s Premier Culinary Fundraising Event

Chefs from more than 40 area restaurants will join forces to support Project Self-Sufficiency at A Taste of Talent on May 4th

Northwestern New Jersey’s premier culinary fundraising event, A Taste of Talent, will be held at the Conservatory on the Sussex County Fairgrounds on behalf of local non-profit agency Project Self-Sufficiency on Monday, May 4th, beginning at 6:00 p.m. 

Patrons are invited to mingle with chefs from more than 40 celebrated area restaurants while feasting on appetizers, entrees, and desserts.  The epicurean event raises funds for the non-profit agency which specializes in services for low-income families in Sussex, Morris, Hunterdon, and Warren.  Sponsorships for A Taste of Talent range from $500 - $30,000, and a limited number of individual tickets are available at a cost of $200. 

The event will take place in the Conservatory, as well as the adjacent buildings and courtyard; on-site tents and food trucks will round out the affair.  Volunteer musicians will perform throughout the space.  A cooking demonstration will be given by Culinary Co-Chairpersons Andre de Waal, Executive Chef of Andre’s Lakeside Dining, and Perona Farms Executive Chef Kirk Avondoglio.

 “A Taste of Talent is our signature fundraising event and the cornerstone of our annual campaign,” noted Deborah Berry-Toon, Executive Director of Project Self-Sufficiency.  “Funds raised by A Taste of Talent make it possible for Project Self-Sufficiency to provide the programs and services necessary for families in northwestern New Jersey to attain economic self-sufficiency.  We continue to be humbled by the support we receive from the restaurateurs in our area and we are looking forward to a delightful event.”

Project Self-Sufficiency is a private non-profit community-based organization dedicated to improving the lives of low-income families residing in northwestern New Jersey.  The agency’s mission is to provide a broad spectrum of holistic, respectful, and comprehensive services enabling low-income single parents, teen parents, two-parent families, and displaced homemakers to improve their lives and the lives of their children while achieving personal and economic self-sufficiency and family stability.  Since 1986 Project Self-Sufficiency has served more than 25,000 families.
