Over the last week, residents endured delayed traffic and long detours as Landing Road undergoes a major repaving project.

The daytime work on Landing Road was closed to traffic in both directions at times, blocking I-80 into and out of the area, and sending residents on long detours into the Mount Arlington area and onto Howard Blvd. as the best route.

The closures are expected to continue again this week as this is scheduled to be a four-week project lasting until Mid-October.

Construction Update:

Hopatcong Lake Regional News spoke to the Supervisor of the Construction Crew on Friday and leaned that the four-week timeframe could be cut in half:

“We’ve been blessed with good weather this week, so it seems like we are running a little ahead of schedule. We have completed the milling and repaving on the Lake to I-80 side of Landing Road, and most of the milling on the opposite side. If this continues and we don’t have any other delays, we may finish the majority of the work next week.”

In checking the long-range 10-day forecast, the area will have mostly sunny skies all next week.
