The goal of the day is for individuals, residents, businesses and groups to join the community as volunteers to help clean up parks, trails, woodlands, roadsides, neighborhoods and waterways.
“We are hoping to have as great of a turn out as we did for our Earth Day clean up in April” commented Kellie Ann Keyes, Clean Communities Coordinator. “We had a mix of groupsworking not just along roadways but also working in more neglected areas where material had been dumped and heavily concealed. In just one area, computer equipment, car parts and metal rebar was uncovered and removed.
It was fun to watch as the material was found, how the group kept going back hoping to find more to remove. What a great way to make a visible, positive impact on our community!”
