This year’s Lake Hopatcong Foundation annual hike is presented in conjunction with local Girl Scout Troop 96064! The Troop’s Bronze Award project centers around bringing awareness of the Lake Hopatcong Trail to the community.
As part of their project, Troop 96064 has adopted a portion of the trail to maintain and are encouraging others to consider adopting sections of the trail as well.
Annual group hike
At the June 1 hike, the girls will be celebrating National Trails Day with us by sharing information about trail history, hiking safety, and first aid (with assistance from the Hopatcong Ambulance Squad). They will also be providing snacks and painting rocks for Kindness for Christopher.
The day will begin at 2:00 pm at the Hopatcong Senior Center, with a guided hike, led by Cliff Lundin, starting at 2:30. The hike will be approximately 45 minutes and is moderate in difficulty.
National Trails Day
Taking place on the first Saturday in June, National Trails Day is a day of events and outreach for advocacy and trail service. Thousands of hikers, bikers, rowers, trail clubs, federal and local agencies, land trusts, and businesses come together in partnership to advocate for, maintain, and clean up public lands and trails. Help us celebrate the parks, trails, and open spaces within our watershed by joining us and Girl Scout Troop 96064 on June 1 on the Lake Hopatcong Trail!
