LHF: Two $1,000 Scholarships for Graduating High School Seniors

Holly Odgers with The Lake Hopatcong Foundation announced for the third consecutive year, LHF will award two graduating high school seniors a $1,000 scholarship in each of two categories.

Categories include:

  • The Lake Environment Scholarship
  • Lake Experience Scholarship.  


Two scholarships of $1,000 each will be awarded by the Lake Hopatcong Foundation in two categories, each of which relates to the work of the LHF and its mission. The scholarships will be a one-time gift, given to a senior in high school who is a resident (year-round or seasonal) of one of the four towns that surround Lake Hopatcong.

1. The Lake Environment

This $1,000 scholarship will be awarded to a college-bound student who plans to study environmental science, environmental policy, ecology, or a similar field that focuses on the natural world and conserving the environment.

2. The Lake Experience

This $1,000 scholarship will be awarded to a college- or trade school-bound student who plans to go into a field that is related to the lake experience, including public safety, marine trade, aquatic athletics, or a similar field.

Complete the scholarship application and submit to the foundation by Monday, May 1.  Students are asked to describe how their experiences on Lake Hopatcong shaped what they are studying in college or trade school. The scholarships are open to students at any high school, as long as they have a full-time or part-time residence in one of the 4 towns that surround Lake Hopatcong.
