The Jefferson Township Recreation is accepting online registrations for the 11th Fall season of the Challenger Soccer Program for special needs children.
Boys and girls age 5 to 18 (or the completion of high school) and young adults/adults ages 19 to 35 with physical or mental challenges are invited to join this program. Registration is open to township and non-township residents, and the participant can join at any time.
Scott Luker, a resident of Jefferson Township, will return to manage the league. The games will be played on the large side field of Fireman’s Field located at 750 Route 15 South in Lake Hopatcong with the first game taking place on Saturday September 15, 2018 at 10 am. There will not be a session on Saturday, October 20; and depending on weather, if the program continues into early November, the session will be held at Chamberlain Field, 48 Chamberlain Road, Oak Ridge (in the Water’s Edge development) on November 3 and 10.
This program offers players the chance to participate in one of the most popular sports worldwide. Participants will play with the same equipment and by the same rules as in any soccer game with the exception that they have the option to use the “buddy” system for assistance. Every player on the roster plays in the game, and no score is kept. Once again, thanks to fundraising efforts, the registration fee (jersey, cap, and award) will be waived for this season.
Volunteers are needed to play, manage, umpire, assistant coach, serve as a team parent, or become a “buddy” to a player. For program questions, contact Scott Luker at 973-229-0864 or at email@example.com
Registration for this program is only online through Community Pass so log on to https://register.communitypass.net/reg/index.cfm and if you already have an existing account, sign in or follow the prompts to set up your own personal account through the Jefferson Township community. In either case, chose “Summer/Fall Season 2018” to register. As there is no fee to participate, there will be no amount due but you must go through the screens and click on “Finish”.
