Hopatcong Teresa Turnage - Accepted into North Jersey Area Band

Hopatcong senior Teresa Turnage (trombone) auditioned for and was accepted to the North Jersey Area Band on December 7 at Wayne Hills High School.  

She competed with 400 students from 39 high schools in Sussex, Morris, Essex, Passaic and Bergen Counties.  Teresa placed third in all auditing trombones, earning her a spot in the prestigious Wind Ensemble.  She will participate in five intense rehearsals to work on challenging literature, and then perform a concert at Mt. Olive High School on Saturday, January 11, conducted by Rutgers Music Professor Darryl Bott.

About North Jersey Area Band (NJAB):

The North Jersey Area Band is an Honor Band that auditions and selects students from nearly 50 middle and high schools in northern New Jersey.

The purpose of Music Education is enhanced by the preparation, audition, and performance of selected students within the selected Northern New Jersey Schools. This enhancement includes: the preparation for audition, the rehearsal of advanced band music, the exposure to advanced conductors, and the performance of said music in a concert setting.
