The Replacement of the River Styx bridge on Lake Hopatcong has been placed on the 2020 approved projects by the North Jersey Transportation Planning Authority.
According to reporting by the New Jersey Herald, Freeholder Carl Lazzaro, the county's representative on the NJTPA's Board of Trustees, said the placement was done at the most recent meeting of the authority. “Placement on the list is not a guarantee of construction, but it's a strong possibility it will remain on the list of projects for that fiscal year.”
“If it stays on the list, Lazarro said the project will not require any county funds and the project would be paid for with federal dollars.”
The multimillion-dollar project would replace the bridge that carries county Route 607 (River Styx Road) over a portion of Lake Hopatcong in Hopatcong.
