The Hopatcong Durban Avenue School hosted its second annual Treats for Troops drive. This year they collected and donated 157 pounds of candy.
The leftover Halloween candy collection, organized by Mrs. Boucher and Mrs. Moschella, ran from November 1st through November 15th and was an effort to send thanks, encouragement, and sweets to our troops. This event was not just about giving up candy but a way to get students engaged and show our military heroes how much we care and appreciate them.
On Monday November 19th all of the candy was delivered to an organization called Operation Jersey Cares. It was then boxed up and put into care packages for deployed soldiers during Operation Jersey Cares’ holiday packing event on Saturday, November 24th. About three hundred care packages will be sent out a result of this event.
