Fishing was a little on the slower side with cooler temps but picked up for the contest participants when the sun peeked out early afternoon on Sunday for the fishing contests.

Lake Hopatcong Guide Service Updates

Hybrid Striper CaughtLAKE RECORD HYBRID STRIPER!! Caught, officially weighed, and released by LHGS guide, Kevin Cool!! The fish weighed 12 lbs 4 oz - 28 1/4” in length with a 21” girth! The fish was caught just after 2:00 am on April 27th and weighed in by Joe at Dow’s Bait Shop at 3:45 am.

Water temps have been all over the place recently thanks to inconsistent weather, but it hasn’t stopped our LHGS customers and guides from boating a bunch of nice fish this week! As of today, water temps are around 53 degrees in the shallows and 46 degrees out on the main lake.

The crappie bite during the day remains phenomenal. They are being caught on a variety of lures most days and fathead minnows have produced great results when conditions are tougher. Lots of trout, pickerel, bass, and yellow perch were boated as well. Pretty much all of the fish in the lake are active at this point.

The night bite for walleye and hybrid stripers has really picked up and lots of quality fish were caught this week. Casting and trolling have both been productive. Most of our damage has been done in less than 10’ of water.

The KNC pickerel contest results were as follows:

First place went to Hunter Good of Jefferson with a 2 lb 11 oz fish, winning $410.

Second place went to Jack Dziduch. He won $246 with a 2 lb 7 oz pickerel

Third place went to Dylan Cole of Newton with a 1 lb 13 oz pickerel, winning $131.

Fourth thru Fifth place was awarded $20 gift certificates. They were awarded to Steve Schilling with a 1 lb 13 oz, Lou Marcucci with a 1 lb 10 oz fish, and a 1lb 8 oz pickerel caught by Greg White.
