Lake Hopatcong Fishing Report [08/07/2021] – KDC Catfish Contest – What’s Being Caught

The Knee Deep Clubs catfish contest is this weekend, August 7th & 8th. It is a perfect outdoor activity to spend some time with friends and maybe win some money.

Knee Deep Club: Catfish Contest

Super CatfishThe Knee Deep Club will hold its annual Lake Hopatcong Catfish Contest the weekend of August 7 and 8, 2021.The contest will begin at 6:00 PM on Saturday August 15, 2020 and conclude at 12:00 Noon on Sunday, August 8, 2021.

The entry fee for club members is $20.00 and non-members $25.00 ($20.00 entry + $5.00 non-member fee). No one will be allowed to entry after 7:00 PM on Saturday August 7, 2021. Cash prizes will be based on an 80% payout of entry fees for the three (3) heaviest catfish weighed in for the contest. The anglers catching the 4th, 5th and 6th heaviest catfish will each receive a $20.00 gift certificate.

What’s Biting:

And yes, the catfish are biting. Max Hughen weighed in several nice fish. His 2 channel cats weighed in at 1 lb 10 oz and 9 lb 5 oz , along with a white cat weighing 4 lb 2 oz.

Catfish will hit anything from hotdogs and liver to nightcrawlers and herring, dead or alive.

Richard Hilton had several bass while pitching his lures along the docks at Nolans Point, the largest weighing 4 lb 2 oz. Hybrid Bass still being caught off Chestnut Point, the Main Lake out from Byrams, and Sharps Rock areas. \

White and yellow perch are also being caught.
