Similar to the other regions around our lake, our Police Departments have seen almost everything, and always respond to thelp the public. In the following case Hopatcong Police were called out on unusual events involving non-human events that require assistance.

On December 1st, 2017 both Ptl. Lotito and Ptl. Fullman from the Hopatcong Police Department responded to the intersection of Rollins Trail and Larson Trail for the report of a loose pig,

Pig Found

Upon the arrival of the Hopatcong Police, patrols located a white pig tied to a bush. It seems that a JCP&L employee found and tied the pig to the bush. Patrols could not locate the owner.

Patrols had dispatch contact the ACO to respond to take custody of the pig. As the ACO arrived, the owner of the pig arrived to take custody of the pig. There was no longer an issue as the pig was reunited with her owner. Patrols cleared with no further police action taken.

Press release by Capt. Kmetz #34 (973)398-5000

(These charges are merely an accusation. The pig is presumed innocent until proven guilty)
