Hopatcong Lake Regional News had the opportunity to catch up with Hopatcong Police Patrolman Dan Kern, Sergeant James Bianculli, and Emily’s Parents Julie and Dan, to find out more about Emily and the upcoming Police PBA 149 5K Walk/Run Event.
What had been a healthy and normal one-year old Emily suddenly underwent a series of seizures, where she was shaking on the floor and gasping for air when first responders first arrived. Emily was Hospitalized on and off until June 16th and continues to need multiple treatments daily. She is not able to take food normally, she undergoes multiple Meds and physical therapy. She also needs additional Hospital stays for additional assistance.

Involvement of the Hopatcong Police:
According to Julie and Dan, “The support we have been provided by Hopatcong Police Department, both on the night of the incident and beyond was been outstanding! We are still overwhelmed by the support that they have put together a 5/K Race to help with Emily. This is a good example of what our local police department does to help the community when in an area of need.”
According to Hopatcong Police:
Sergeant James Bianculli, “All calls that come in are treated equally, but whenever a call comes in that involved s child, the officers handle it with extra care. In this case we could expedite Emily’s movement to the hospital, and as a community we want to continue to champion this cause through the 5K Run/Walk."
