Jefferson Township Farmers Market
The Jefferson Township Farmers Market has a new home: Firemen’s Field. The field is located at 750 Route 15 South, behind Bank of America at the intersection with Bowling Green Parkway. The new space will allow more room for vendors and better accommodate traffic flow. Customers will have ample parking onsite and at the Lakeside Recreation Complex directly across the road (15 Swan Lane).
It will be open every Sunday from 10:00-2:00 through October, rain or shine, offering an array of seasonal fruits and vegetables, jams, jellies, eggs, all natural and organic soap, lotions, and more.
Many favorite vendors will be back:
The Feisty Pepper
Sparta Mountain Farm
Corbett’s Cookie Bar Kitchen
Olsen’s Honey and Spice
Look for new vendors as well: Jersey Girl Cheese (fresh mozzarella and other Italian-style artisanal cheeses) and Mojo Homemade Dog Treats.
Tom Galfo, known locally as Farmer Tom, is the market organizer and owner of The Feisty Pepper. Farmer Tom welcomes special interest groups to set up tables and interact with the community. Corporate sponsors are invited as well. Live music provided by Jeiris Cook will once again enhance the opening day market experience, and may become a weekly occurrence.
Galfo, a member of the Morris County Agriculture Development Board, is committed to helping to protect green spaces. He encourages the community to buy from local farmers and invest in locally sourced goods; the success of the farmers market and contributing businesses depends on such support. Farmer Tom encourages consumers to have a connection with the source of their food and how it gets to them. “The more people who get their hands in the dirt and grow their own food, the better off we will be,” he says. “It is valuable to have that understanding.”
Vendors, special interest groups, and corporate sponsors wishing to participate may contact Tom Galfo at TheFeistypepper@gmail.com or 973-919-5657.
Mission of the Jefferson Township Farmers Market, LLC
Tom is very clear about the mission of the Farmer’s market. “This is all about promoting local businesses and to bring the freshest most wholesome products possible to our residents. We’re going to start small and add as necessary.”
