Christ Church Newton Offers Evensong in Celebration of 250th Anniversary
Christ Episcopal Church in Newton will continue celebrating its 250th anniversary with a special Evensong on Saturday, November 23rd, 7:30 p.m.
Evensong, the choral version of the Evening Prayer liturgy used in the Anglican tradition, will be sung by the Christ Church Newton Senior Choir under the direction of Music Director Joe Mello. The service will use the 1662 version of the Book of Common Prayer as a nod to the parish’s celebration of its 250th anniversary. Selected works will include Preces and Responses, by Michael Gibson, Magnificat and Nunc Dimittis in Bb by C. V. Stanford, O Thou the Central Orb, by Charles Wood, and The Lord Bless You and Keep You, by John Rutter. The Right Reverend Dr. Alan Wilson, Bishop of Buckingham, (Oxford) Church of England will preach. A light reception will follow.
The event is free and open to the public, although a free will offering will be taken. Christ Church is located at 62 Main Street in Newton. For more information about Christ Episcopal Church call 973-383-2245 or visit www.christchurchnewton.org.
